What to Expect
What Clients Say
The Challenge
The prospect of investing hundreds of hours, thousands of pounds and countless mental and emotional energy into a process that carries no guarantee of success, is understandably daunting. Some find it isolating, lonely and draining.Even with the encouragement of mentors, clerks and consultants, it can feel that some kind of support is missing. A truly free, private and open space where you receive bespoke, strategic and consistent support that inspires, encourages and energises you.
The Solution
Having personally supported over 12 barristers into silk, and been in Chambers to see over 100 barristers take silk, I’ve seen a lot. In my experience, there are three core elements to a successful silk application: Mindset, Accountability, Strategy and Support. These of the four pillars of The Silk Road Coaching Programme
Mindset
Building mental strength, emotional resilience and ensuring you can turn any outcome into a win.
Accountability
Being held accountable to your commitments and learning to hold yourself accountable.
Strategy
Developing a bespoke plan covering practice development, practice management and the timely and efficient drafting of your silk application.
Support
Enusing you have appropriate support in every corner of your personal and professional life as you embark on the road to silk.
This is for you if…
-
You are between 12 to 36 months of applying for silk.

-
You feel overwhelmed, daunted or fearful about the prospect of applying for silk.

-
You want bespoke support for your silk application.

This is not for you if…
-
You do not plan to apply for silk within the next 36 months

-
You are hot willing to dedicate 10 hours to this process over the next 6 months

-
You are not open to receiving support and help throughout this process

A Note From Your Coach
Hi, I’m Graham, barristers clerk, coach, consultant, father, husband, and much more.

I enjoyed twenty years at three of the UK’s leading sets of Chambers, 39 Essex Chambers, Crown Office Chambers and Old Square Chambers, before deciding to launch my coaching business to support the Bar in a more bespoke way.

One of my proudest achievements as a clerk was supporting six successful silk applications from my team of 24 barristers over two years, five of whom were women, and five from minority backgrounds.

I had supported barristers through the process before, but something about my approach this time was different.

I got deeply into the weeks of the process.
I climbed into the well with some of those barristers
Supported them as closely as I could.
Embedded myself in their process.
It may have helped a little.

But I learned something over those two years: this is the most uniquely challenging process most barristers have been through since pupillage.

An extraordinary drain of time, energy and money that requires a support team.
If you think I might be a powerful addition to your team, let's talk.
